Frisco, Texas– The 5th game featured Cal against Mississippi State. In the Classic, California is 1-1 and Mississippi is 0-2, so they’ll look to get back in the win column.

The weather is an absolute perfect 70 degrees at game time.

Cal (7-2) sent right-hander Tucker Bougie (1-0, 2.53) to the mound to face off against Mississippi (6-5). Mississippi countered with RHP Landon Gartman (1-0, 4.50).

The Mississippi State Bulldogs wasted no time finding the scoreboard. They scored two runs in the top of the 1st. Amani Larry was HBP and then stole 2nd. He ended up scoring on a bases-loaded sac-fly by Hancock to left field.

Ledbetter advanced to 3rd on a throwing error and scored an unearned run.

California State got a run back in the bottom of the 1st from an RBI-double off the bat of Peyton Schulze.

Rodney Green Jr (Cal) makes things look easy whether at the plate or in the field. He blasted a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the 3rd, which was his 2nd home run of the weekend.

Kellum Clark hit a no-doubt two-run HR in the top of the 8th to give Mississippi State some insurance runs.

Nate Dohm, dominated Cal’s line-up out of the pen and earned the win for Mississippi. He pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing just one hit, one walk and six strikeouts on 67 pitches. No doubt, the performance of the weekend ou5 of the pen. He made my All-Tournament team.

Up until Dohm came in the game, Cal scored a run in four consecutive innings.
