Owen White cracks MLB’s top 100 prospects list

The Texas Rangers now have six players in MLB’s top 100 prospects. That’s impressive and quite the jump from just a few seasons ago. Owen White is the newest Ranger prospect on the list.

In 2021, the Rangers had 5 top 100 prospects. In 2020 they had 4 and in 2019 they had 3.

Between High-A Hickory and Double-A Frisco, Owen White has a 8-2 win-loss record and a 3.63 earned run average in a total of 69.1 innings.

White was just named the Pitcher of the Week in the Texas League for his performance against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros) where he threw 5.1 no-hit innings in his Riders Field debut.

White comes in at number 97 in MLB’s top 100 rankings. I can’t say that I am surprised by it. White really started opening eyes with his performance throughout the Arizona Fall League in 2021 where he won Pitcher of the Year honors with a 5-0 win-loss record with a 1.91 earned run average in 28.1 innings pitched.

The other Texas Rangers prospects listed on the top 100 are: Jack Leiter, Josh Jung, Ezequiel Duran, Justin Foscue and Cole Winn.

The Rangers are tied with the Dodgers and Guardians with 6 prospects listed for each team. No team has more than 6 and with the Rangers having the 3rd pick in the MLB draft coming up, they’ll certainly add another prospect in the top 100.
