On Tuesday July 5, Frisco RoughRiders pitcher Owen White was named the Texas League Pitcher of the week for June 27-July 3. Owen is the first RoughRiders pitcher to earn the honor this season.
Ranger fans are used to seeing the word dominant describe Owen White’s work on the mound the last couple of seasons.
White had a no-hitter going into the 6th inning prior to being taken out of the game due to a sprained left ankle.
In his dominant outing he pitched 5.1 hitless innings against the Corpus Christi Hooks. He only issued one walk and struckout seven. It was White’s debut at home at Riders Field and the Hooks had no answer for anything he threw at them.
He threw 68 pitches and 46 of them landed for strikes.
In his two Double-A outings this season he has a 2-0 win-loss record with a 1.69 earned run average.
