RoughRiders End 7-Game Losing Streak

The Frisco RoughRiders ended a seven-game losing streak on Friday night, defeating the Amarillo Sod Poodles 3-2.

The RoughRiders were led by a pitching gem from 21-year-old Tekoah Roby. Roby went 6 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and two runs with one walk and eight strikeouts. He was one out away from a no-hitter and shutout when he gave up a triple and a two-run home run to end the no-hit bid and shutout bid.

Reliever Marc Church came on in relief of Roby and pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing no hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

The RoughRiders got on the board in the second inning on Nick Tanielu’s third home run of the season. They added another run in the sixth inning on Tanielu’s second RBI of the game, a single that scored Kellen Strahm.

Dustin Harris gave the RoughRiders a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning with his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot to right-center field.

Church (2-2) earned the win, while Nick Starr (1) picked up the save.

Harris finished the game with three hits, a home run, and an RBI. Tanielu had two hits, a home run, and two RBIs.

The RoughRiders and Sod Poodles will play game two of their six-game series on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:35 PM CT. Jack Leiter is set to take the mound for the RoughRiders.
