Texas Rangers Add Reliever Luis Curvelo to Strengthen Bullpen in 2025
As Texas Rangers fans, we've all seen how much the bullpen needs help—and it looks like the front office is making moves to address it. The Rangers are closing in on a deal with 24-year-old right-handed reliever Luis Curvelo, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. This isn't just any signing; it’s expected to be a major league contract, showing that the Rangers see real potential in this young arm. Just last week, Morosi described Curvelo as "one of the most popular free agents" at the GM Meet
The Texas Rangers Should Sign Juan Soto
As part of a series of our armchair GM pieces, I wanted to dive into a hypothetical, highly unlikely, yet intriguing idea: why the Texas Rangers should pursue one of the game’s best talents, Juan Soto. While it may sound far-fetched, Soto is still in his prime, and securing his talents would push the Rangers to having the best lineup in baseball. Can you imagine a lineup consisting of Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Juan Soto, Wyatt Langford and Adolis Garcia? Of course, I'd be counting on a bounc
Is It Time to Move On From These Rangers?
The World Series begins tonight, which means we are that much closer to the beginning of Free Agency in the MLB. For the Rangers, a lot of questions need answers this offseason, including what the payroll number Ray Davis and company are comfortable spending in 2025. Early discussions lead everyone to believe the Rangers will not be heavy spenders again this offseason as they look to stay under the Luxury Tax threshold this upcoming season. Don't confuse that with the idea that the Rangers fron
Rangers 2024 Season Review
Just over seven months ago, the Rangers were nearing the end of Spring Training and looking ahead towards a 2024 season in which they had one ultimate goal: Repeat as Champions. At that time (March 20th to be specific) I submitted my predictions for the 2024 season, which you can review for your own curiosity. https://theprospecttimes.com/pre-season-predictions/ I'll admit my confidence in the team was at an all-time high, but why wouldn't it be? The Rangers came into 2024 with essentially the
Some Texas Rangers Prospects Who Impressed in 2024
Every season, a number of prospects manage to catch everyone by surprise with their standout performances, and 2024 was no different. This year, several Texas Rangers prospects turned heads with their unexpected rises. To get a broader perspective, I asked contributors to name the players who impressed them the most—aside from the more well-known names like Kumar Rocker and Sebastian Walcott. Here are the prospects who made the biggest impression in 2024. This isn't an exhaustive list, as many
Three Texas Rangers Prospects on MLB Pipeline’s Updated Top 100 List
The Texas Rangers continue to build a future that looks so bright that you'll need to put on your sunglasses if you look more than a few sect. Not surprising that three of the Texas Rangers top prospects have earned spots on MLB Pipeline’s updated Top 100 list they released a few days ago: Sebastian Walcott (No. 23), Kumar Rocker (No. 58), and Alejandro Rosario (No. 86). Each of these players has taken a significant step forward in their development this season, making a strong case for why they
Texas Rangers Top 15 Prospects 2024: Updated Rankings
The Texas Rangers' farm system may not have the same top 5 ranking it did in 2023, following the trades of prospects like Luisangel Acuña and Thomas Saggese, and the graduation of Evan Carter late last season along with Wyatt Langford making the team out of spring this year. Despite these changes, I believe the system is still strong. The talent and depth are still there, and the organization has made clear strides in player development. It may take a couple of seasons for these improvements to
Could History Repeat Itself?
It's become pretty clear that many within Rangers Nation have put the final touches on the 2024 season, and are setting their sights on what 2025 and beyond can bring. Recent moves and messaging from the Front Office seem to suggest much of the same coming from within the Rangers organization. All of that is fair and justified, but don't tell that to the men on the field. The Texas Rangers are playing their best baseball of the season lately, and it's not even close for comparison. Look no furt
deGrom Makes First Rehab Start
Long Awaited Return Last night was an exciting night down in Frisco as Rangers pitcher and 2x CY Young award winner Jacob deGrom made his much anticipated season debut where he was making his first rehab start since getting Tommy John in June 2023. DeGrom had been having bullpen sessions and threw to live hitters last week on his road to recovery. The Rangers are hoping to have him go in 4 or 5 rehab starts before getting brought back to pitch with the club. Final Line 2IP 2H 1R 3K 29/21
Epic Showdowns Ahead: deGrom and Scherzer to Rehab in Frisco
Jacob deGrom’s Long-Awaited Return Riders Field in Frisco is set to be the epicenter of excitement this week, especially on Thursday and Friday, as two of baseball’s elite, Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer, hit the mound for their rehab assignments. Jacob deGrom, who’s slated for a four-start rehab stint, will be making his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2023, his second such surgery. His first Tommy John procedure took place in 2010 while he was in the New York Met
