The Texas Rangers strengthened their already strong farm system with the selection of outfielder Wyatt Langford with their 4th overall pick of the 2023 Draft.

They needed to make a “safe” pick with their first round pick this year. Their selection of Wyatt Langford, out of Florida, ensured them of as safe a pick as they could’ve had. Langford falling to the Rangers was a best-case scenario for them and it happened. Thank goodness for the draft lottery that moved them from 7th to 4th.

Wyatt Langford has impressive college numbers

He has been making waves with his impressive college numbers. In 64 games, he slashed a line of .373/.498/.784/1.282 with 21 home runs and 57 RBI.

For his collegiate career, he has a line of .363/.471/.746/1.217 with 47 home runs and 120 RBI. The on-base percentage is probably what impresses me the most.

His 26 home runs in the 2022 season matched a school record.

With his success, Langford is projected to immediately rank among the Rangers top prospects, where he will no doubt be an exciting addition to the team.

Langford will rank among the top Ranger prospects

Langford is undoubtedly one of the top prospects in the laundry list of Texas Rangers prospects. We’ll discuss our rankings list and surely add him into the the top three.

Blessed with an impressive array of physical tools, Langford’s combination of power, agility, and athleticism allow him to excel both offensively and defensively. I would except him to move through the system quickly.

To put it simply, Langford’s ceiling is quite high. He has the potential to become an All-Star caliber player, with the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.

The Texas Rangers nailed this pick

The Texas Rangers had to bail this pick and I believe they did with Wyatt Langford. He gives them another strong player, both on the field and the name itself. His all-round skill set means he is a great hitter and fielder, and he would be a great asset to any team – especially the Texas Rangers.

The future is indeed a little brighter Rangers fans.
