Trey Hair Hidden Ball Trick
Trey Hair made a play that isn’t all that common in the top of the 3rd inning. He pulled off the hidden ball trick. As you can see from the video below, Astros prospect Justin Dirden hit a single and Trey Hair caught the incoming throw on the grass near the pitchers mound to cut it off and prevent the runner that went to 3rd from advancing. He casually puts the ball out the outside of his glove as he is walking towards 1st base. Once he got to the bag he made a swipe at it with his right foot as to wipe dirt off the base. That did it. It cause Dirden to go off the bag and Trey Hair applied the tag and Dirden was ruled out. Heads up play by Hair who has been on a tear at the plate recently.
Cody Bradford was charged with the loss. He pitched four innings, allowing six runs on six hits, four walks and three strikeouts. He threw 84 pitches, 51 for strikes.
Out of the pen
Grant Wolfram and Tim Brennan each pitched two scoreless innings. Wolfram (6.59) allowed a hit, walked two and struckout one. Brennan struckout three and gave up no hits.
Seth Nordlin (3.60) was sandwiched in between and he gave up three runs on three hits and two strikeouts.
The Riders fell 9-5 and move to 20-16.
