Texas Rangers 2021 3rd Round Pick Cameron Cauley is being called up to Double-A Frisco!
The former Texas Tech commit has displayed his abilities this season hitting for power, flashing the leather, and stealing bags along the way.
This year in 96 games Cauley has hit 15 long balls and swiped 27 bags, only being caught 3 times. The only real hole in Cauley’s game at times is his swing and miss rates. His batting Average for the year is .240 and has an OPS of .739. Obviously, the club feels like he’s about ready to see better pitching and with time and reps will increase his average and become a more complete hitter.
Cauley will join the team for the final road trip of the season before the Roughriders get ready for the postseason as they look to add another Texas League title to their resume.
It was reported he may not be fully added to the roster this go around. This sounds like he could be there in case anyone gets hurt, and for him to get situated and familiar with the coaching staff for him to start his season in 2025 in Frisco.
This is a sign of good faith for the 21-year-old as he’s off to a hot start in September and had an equally good June and July. He’s got plenty of room to grow and expand his game and when he finally gets that chance in Frisco he’ll be a fun watch.
