9th-Inning Errors Lead to Extra-Inning Loss for the Express

The Round Rock Express were one out away from their third game in a row, but a couple of 9th inning errors opened the door for the Toledo Mud Hens to rally, ultimately securing a win in extra innings (12) at Dell Diamond.

This was the first extra-inning game of the season for the Express.

In the top of the 9th, with the Express just one out from victory, third baseman Alex De Goti’s throwing error allowed the tying run to score, sending the game into extra innings. Reliever Dane Acker (BS, 1) pitched 2 innings, giving up 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and recording 1 strikeout, but couldn’t close it out.

After the teams swapped runs in the 11th, the game extended to the 12th inning. JT Chargois (L, 0-1) took the mound for the Express, pitching 1.2 innings but allowing 1 hit, 4 unearned runs, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout, taking the loss as the Mud Hens pulled ahead for the win.

Offensive Contributions

The Express tallied 8 hits in the game, with Blaine Crim and Sam Haggerty leading the way, together accounting for half of the team’s hits. Crim continued his strong start, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs, bringing his season total to 6 RBIs. Haggerty also chipped in, going 2-for-5 with 1 RBI (2 on the season).

Meanwhile, Evan Carter, who’s batting .059, sat out for the night.
