Boom Ball is coming to Frisco. The 2027 Boom Ball Babe Ruth Hologram Tour will stop at Riders Field on Saturday, March 27, 2027, bringing the newest version of exhibition baseball to the home of the Frisco RoughRiders.
The Frisco date is part of a 30-city tour built around high-energy shows and a re-creation of Babe Ruth's Called Shot from the 1932 World Series, presented through hologram technology after the game.
Boom Ball pitches itself as a game where every inning brings the whole family something new. It features two coed teams, the Lucky Llamas and the Chaos Crew, made up of former collegiate and minor league standouts who bring serious skills and serious personality to the field.

How Boom Ball works, inning by inning
A Boom Ball game is six innings, each one a mini-game worth a point, and the team with the most points wins. Boom Ball lists the rules for every inning on its website. Here's my rundown of what to expect.
Inning 01
The first inning sets the tone, and the tone is speed. Each team's pitcher throws to his or her own hitters, there's no such thing as a ball or a strike, and each half-inning runs on a five-minute clock. No stepping out to adjust batting gloves here.
Inning 02
The second inning keeps the same pace and adds a fifth base. The Boom Base sits 30 feet outside the baseline between third and home, and a runner who detours to touch it scores two runs instead of one. I'm curious how often teams gamble on it in a close game.
Inning 03
The third inning brings out the namesake: a pink baseball used only on the last pitch of each half-inning. On that pitch, runs and defensive trick plays both count double, which turns one pitch into the highest-stakes moment of the frame.
Inning 04
In the fourth inning, foul territory disappears. A ball that would normally be foul is fair, even if it lands in the seats, and fans who come up with it throw it back onto the field to keep the play alive. If you're sitting down the lines at Riders Field, bring your glove.
Inning 05
The fifth inning switches sports. A professional softball pitcher takes the circle, the bases move in to softball distance, and every Boom Ball rule from the earlier innings still applies. This is the inning I'm most interested to see, since it's the clearest break from anything Banana Ball does.
Inning 06
The game ends with a Home Run Derby featuring four hitters from each side. It opens with the Derby Duel, two hitters swinging at the same time with a point to the winner, before the final four hitters take their turns and every home run adds a point.
Boom Ball notes that innings and game structure are subject to change.
I've covered Banana Ball in Frisco and at Globe Life Field, and I'm interested to see how this format plays differently in person.
The Babe Ruth hologram and the Called Shot
The night closes at 8:30 p.m. with The Great Bambino taking the field at Riders Field. Using hologram technology, projection mapping, immersive audio and live storytelling, the show re-creates Babe Ruth's Called Shot from the 1932 World Series, followed by fireworks.
The hologram is the part of the night I'm most looking forward to. Re-creating one of baseball's most iconic moments is a cool idea, and I want to see how it translates from the seats.
Boom Ball tickets
Tickets are sold through a lottery, and some 2027 tour dates have already sold out. Fans who want to be at Riders Field on March 27 can enter the Boom Ball ticket lottery and select Frisco as their city.
Ticket prices range from $20 for the lawn to $85 for front-row reserved seats, with VIP options starting at $150.
Demand could grow further depending on the MLB labor situation. If a lockout delays or disrupts the 2027 season, independent exhibition baseball like Boom Ball may draw even more fans looking for a live game in the spring.
