Cam Cauley Gets the Call to the Majors.

The Texas Rangers announced Monday afternoon that Cameron Cauley has been called up to the major league roster ahead of the team’s series against Cleveland.

Cauley, 23, was a third-round pick in 2021 and is in his sixth season within the Rangers organization. After a breakout year with Double-A Frisco in 2025, he earned a promotion to Triple-A Round Rock following spring training this year. In spring, he even caught the attention of Rangers Manager Skip Schumaker commenting on his grit and ability to seamlessly play anywhere in the field that’s needed of him. He slashed .300 with an .878 OPS before being sent to the minor league camp. In more than 1,800 career minor league at-bats, Cauley has maintained a .244 batting average while showing steady improvement each season.

The call-up comes during Cauley’s best month of the year. In June, he slashed .289/.368/.494 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. He has also been a force on the base paths, stealing 29 bases this season without being caught once.

Cauley’s defensive versatility was a primary factor in his promotion. He has established himself as a premier utility player this season, appearing in 27 games at shortstop, 23 in center field, 13 at second base and 10 at third base. He has yet to commit an error in center field, the position where he is expected to see the most action in the big leagues.

With Wyatt Langford on the injured list, Cauley provides the Rangers a right-handed bat to face two Cleveland left-handers this week. He will likely platoon in center field with Evan Carter, who was recently reinstated from the 10-day IL and has historically struggled against left-handed pitching.

The promotion gives Cauley an opportunity to prove his value to a Rangers lineup that has moved to .500 following a four-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays. Texas currently sits atop a lackluster American League West.
