Abimelec Ortiz on the Rise
Earlier this week the Rangers made some personnel moves involving some of their minor league players. One of those players was Abimelec Ortiz. He was promoted from Down East to Hickory. With the Rangers, Abimelec has spent most of his time at first base, but he has also seen some time in right field and at DH. In his first three games with Hickory, he hit three home runs and two sacrifice flies while walking once. He has certainly started off well after his promotion. Before his promotion,
Why Tekoah Roby Deserves the Spotlight
The Texas Rangers have invested a lot of resources into the pitcher position in recent years. They drafted Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker with their first selections in back-to-back seasons. In 2018 they selected Cole Winn in the first-round, followed by Owen White in the second. On top of all of that, they gave Brock Porter a $3.7 million signing bonus, the largest ever for a draft pick after the second round. Taking all of that into consideration, some players will not receive the fanfare that

Cody Bradford is on the verge of getting called up
The Texas Rangers seem to be on the verge of calling up left-handed starter Cody Bradford from Triple-A Round Rock. Let me explain: Bradford was scheduled to start Sunday for the Express and was scratched and replaced by Grant Anderson. They have yet to set their rotation for their next series against the Braves at Globe Life Field. Spotlight on Specht
Last year, after the Rangers finished the draft, most of the attention was focused on the selections of Kumar Rocker and Brock Porter in the first and fourth rounds. They didn’t have a second or third-round pick due to signing Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. Some fans might be tempted to tune out the draft after the first three or four picks, but it would be wise to pay attention to some of the players picked beyond the fourth round.
