Well, that didn't take long. Just after writing a spotlight post on his absolute tear through the Dominican Summer League, I am hearing that 20-year-old Braulio Cavero is officially on the move. The Texas Rangers are promoting the blistering-hot international signee stateside to join the Arizona Complex League (ACL) Rangers.
To say Cavero earned the promotion would be an understatement. He leaves the DSL after a spectacular 20-game stretch where he basically broke league pitching, leading the entire league with a .413 batting average. His final DSL slash line was impressive: .413/.529/.680 with a massive 1.209 OPS, four home runs, and 27 RBIs.
What makes Cavero’s jump stateside so intriguing is how quickly his advanced approach translated to professional affiliated ball. He dominated the strike zone to the tune of a 19.6% walk rate while striking out just 7 times in 75 at-bats (a 6.9% K-rate). He had multiple hits in 12 of his 20 games and it became obvious he had nothing left to prove at the complex level in the Dominican Republic.
Cavero has logged time all over the field this summer, shifting between right field, left field, first base, and third base. While he did pick up an error at each of the infield corners, he remained completely clean in the outfield where he logged most of his playing time.
The Ensenada, Mexico native originally put his name on the international radar during the 2024 U18 World Cup qualifier in Panama, where he hit 1.163 OPS for Team Mexico. Now, less than a year after signing his first minor league contract with Texas, he takes a major step forward in his journey.
Be on the lookout for Cavero as he makes his stateside debut in the desert. Stay tuned, and we will keep you updated on his progress as he continues his journey up the ranks of the farm system.
