The Frisco RoughRiders now have what we call a win streak. It’s a small two-game streak but we’ll take it, especially with 16-games left and post-season implications on the line. After their 6-2 over the Midland RockHounds (51-55) the RoughRiders move to 59-45.
On the mound
Right-hander Tim Brennan (1.62) got the start for the RoughRiders. He pitched four innings allowing two runs on six hits, a walk and three strikeouts.
Out of the pen
Tyler Thomas (2-2, 4.18), who was just reassigned to Frisco from Triple-A Round Rock, pitched 2.2 scoreless innings out of the pen and earned the win. He allowed two hits, two walks and struckout three.
Hever Bueno (3.24) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, one walk and struckout two.
The Viper, Chase Lee, struck again. He pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th, issuing a walk.
At the plate
Bubba Thompson (.282) tied a career-high in hits going 4-4 with a double.
The RoughRiders were trailing 2-0 until they put up three runs in top of the 5th.
Matt Whatley, hit his 2nd home run of the season with two outs to put the Riders on the board and tie the game. Davis Wendzel singled and drove in Bubba Thompson to give the RoughRiders the 3-2 lead.
Blaine Crim was hit by pitch in the top of the 6th and later scored when RockHounds pitcher, Austin Briggs threw a wild pitch. 4-2 RoughRiders.
The last runs came in the top of the 7th. Diosbel Arias singled to left field scoring Matt Whatley. Blaine Crim hit a ground ball single to 2nd base scoring Davis Wendzel.
The RoughRiders held on to win by a final of 6-2.
What’s next?
Cole Winn has been activated from the Developmental List and will start tonight in Frisco. Ronny Henriquez was originally scheduled to pitch so they may do a tandem start.
The RoughRiders will look to be the 2nd Texas Rangers farm team to 60 wins.
