Chase Lee & Cole Ragans promoted to Round Rock
The Rangers have seen enough from both right-hander Chase Lee and left-hander Cole Ragans. They were both promoted from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock. It was just a matter of time for both. Cole Ragans Ragans, 24, has been perhaps one of the best starters in the Rangers farm system as we near the halfway point in the season. In 10 starts this season, Cole Ragans has a 5-3 win-loss record with a 2.81 earned run average in 51.1 innings pitched. He walked 19 and struckout 65. Right-h
Tulsa Drills RoughRiders for 11 runs
The Tulsa Drillers haven't been kind to the Frisco RoughRiders during the RoughRiders road trip to ONEOK Field. The Drillers drilled the RoughRiders for 11 runs to win by a final of 11-1. Ten runs is the largest deficit of a loss this season. Jack Leiter started for the RoughRiders as they played in their Dallas Black Giants uniforms for the first time this season. It was the worst start of the season for Leiter as he didn't make it out of the 2nd inning. He hit up to 98 MPH on the radar gun. I
RoughRiders get season high 17 hits
The RoughRiders got back into the win column with a 10-5 win against the Midland RockHounds. It was a huge offensive night for the bats in the Riders lineup as they got a season-high 17 hits. Not every RoughRider had a hit but everyone in the line-up got on base. Left-hander Avery Weems earned his first win of the season pitching five innings and allowing three runs on five hits, three walks and two strikeouts. His earned run average sits at 10.13 through 10.2 innings pitched. As has been the
Our RoughRiders 2021 season awards
Since the season ended just over a week ago for the Frisco RoughRiders, we thought we'd take a look back at some performances and hand out our Frisco RoughRiders 2021 season awards. First, we need to give a shout out to first-year manager Jared Goedert, who guided the team to their first winning season since 2014 with a record of 64-55, which was good for first place in the Double-A Central South. The team saw a lot of success this season with a ton of the organization's top prospects. Startin
Josh Stowers made RoughRiders history in loss
The RoughRiders lost 14-11 in an extra innings (10) heartbreaker to the Amarillo Sod Poodles at Hodgetown. Had the RoughRiders won, they'd be in the post-season but the Sod Poodles played spoiler. Even though they lost, Josh Stowers made RoughRiders history in the top of the 6th inning. He became the first player in Frisco RoughRiders history to 20/20. He hit 20 home runs and stole 21 bases on the season. Considering they've been in Frisco since 2003, that's impressive. Josh Stowers came to the
RoughRiders dropped both games of DH in Amarillo
The Frisco RoughRiders dropped both games of their double-header to the Amarillo Sod Poodles at Hodgetown. The first game featured plenty of runs for both teams but the RoughRiders lost on a walk-off in 7 innings by a final of 10-9 and that dropped them to 62-52 on the season. Not to alarm anyone but as of now, the RoughRiders are not in the post-season as they sit a 1/2 game behind the Arkansas Travelers BUT they have four games left to play. Left-hander Cody Bradford (3.89) toed the rubber f
RoughRiders rallied late to win on Patriots night
The Frisco RoughRiders rallied late on Patriots night to win 7-4 in front of 8,493 fans. This win brings their record to 61-50 which is good for 1st place in the Double-A Central South. Ronny Henriquez makes final home start of the season The San Antonio Missions (Diamondbacks) struck first in the top of the 2nd when Dwanya Williams-Sutton hit a three-run home run (4) to left field. The RoughRiders were able to get one run back in the bottom of the 2nd when Josh Stowers hit a two-out RBI sin
RoughRiders lose 4 in a row on Weiner Wednesday
Desperate is not the word but the RoughRiders needed a win on this Weiner Wednesday. Left-hander Cody Bradford got the start for the RoughRiders Bubba Thompson hit a ball 403 feet to left center field to put the RoughRiders on the board in the bottom of the 1st. They held the lead until the top of the 3rd. I saw Bradford top out at 90 in the 1st inning of the game and as it went on he sat at 87-89, his off-speed bottomed out at 78. He pitched 5 innings and allowed four runs- three earned on se
RoughRiders move to 59-45 through 104 games
The Frisco RoughRiders now have what we call a win streak. It's a small two-game streak but we'll take it, especially with 16-games left and post-season implications on the line. After their 6-2 over the Midland RockHounds (51-55) the RoughRiders move to 59-45. On the mound Right-hander Tim Brennan (1.62) got the start for the RoughRiders. He pitched four innings allowing two runs on six hits, a walk and three strikeouts. Out of the pen Tyler Thomas (2-2, 4.18), who was just reassigned to
