Express shutout the Dodgers in their 4 hit win
The Round Rock Express line-up got a lot of help from their Pitchers last night in a 1-0 victory over the OKC Dodgers! The Express managed only 4 hits while 4 Express pitchers combined on a 3 hitter! The game was tied at 0-0 until the 6th inning. In the top of the 6th the Express scored the only score run of the night thanks to a sac-fly from designated hitter Nick Solak that scored centerfielder Bubba Thompson from 3rd. The Rangers have seen enough from both right-hander Chase Lee and left-hander Cole Ragans. They were both promoted from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock. It was just a matter of time for both. The RoughRiders have found themselves in a three-game losing streak and have the best pitcher on the mound to help them snap it. Left-hander Cole Ragans, who has perhaps been the best pitcher in the entire Texas Rangers farm system this season. Ragans had a 1-2-3 top of the 1st on 13 pitches, 8 for strikes with two strikeouts. The Texas Rangers announced their Minor League Players of the month for April today! Player of the Month Round Rock’s 23 year old OF Leody Taveras is the Rangers player of the month for April. Leody played in 19 games in April slashing a line of .377/.391/.635/1.026 with four home runs, 12 RBI and 3 stolen bases. The RoughRiders won 6-5 in the series finale on Sunday against the Midland RockHounds. They won the series 4-2 and move to 14-7 on the season with the best record in the Texas League. In the South Division, they have a 3-game lead over the Amarillo Sod Poodles for an early grasp on first place. The Frisco RoughRiders lost 12-7 to the San Antonio Missions. It's definitely not the way they wanted to start their last series at home. On the Mound Left-hander Cole Ragans took the mound to start for the RoughRiders. It definitely wasn't his best outing. Bubba Thompson set the tone for the RoughRiders offense yesterday in their 3-2 win but Blaine Crim hit his 5th home run in a RoughRiders uniform and that ultimately put the RoughRiders on top. The Riders move to 55-40 and split the series at 3-games a piece with the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). On the mound Kohei Arihara got the start pitching two scoreless innings.
