Since the season ended just over a week ago for the Frisco RoughRiders, we thought we'd take a look back at some performances and hand out our Frisco RoughRiders 2021 season awards. It was State Fair night at Riders Field which featured a t-shirt giveaway to the first 500 fans and State Fair food staples including: Corn Dogs and funnel cakes. A crowd of 8,465 was on hand as the RoughRiders went by the name Corny Dogs and wore their special uniforms including the popular Corny Dog hat. The 1st place Frisco RoughRiders (36-18) head to Arkansas to play a six-game series against the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners) at Dickey-Stephens Park. The RoughRiders lost their last game on July 4th to the Midland RockHounds by a final of 3-1 and are 8-2 in their last 10-games. A day after failing to extend their team record 11-game win streak to 12-games, the RoughRiders get back into the win column. They won 4-2 over the Midland RockHounds (Athletics) and move to 34-17 on the season. The RockHounds couldn't keep up and now are 23-28 on the season. This RoughRiders won by a final of 3-1 over the Midland RockHounds (Athletics). With this win they have a team record of 11-wins in a row and a crowd of 2,523 was on hand to witness it. Jung and Stowers homer in Riders 7-5 win
The Frisco RoughRiders have won their third straight game against the Hooks by a final of 7-5. With this win they move to 25-16 and hold onto first place with a two game lead over the San Antonio Missions. On the mound Right-handed pitcher, Ronny Henriquez (0-0, 12.15) got his first Double-A start. He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five runs on six hits, including two home runs. He issued three walks and struckout three. Blake Bass (4-0, 3.05) replaced Henriquez in the bottom of the fourth.
Rangers prospect Josh Jung out for at least six weeks
This isn't the news that Ranger fans want to see for a number of reasons but at this point we can handle bad news. Top prospect, Josh Jung ( # 2 on our list) will be out six to eight weeks after suffering a stress fracture in his left foot. He will travel to Dallas to have surgery performed by Dr. Keith Heuer, which will be to put a screw in his foot.
