Today was Opening Day for the Arizona Fall League and Surprise Saguaros won game one by a final of 11-6 against the Salt River Rafters. The Texas Rangers had three players in the Saguaros' lineup that each contributed to the win. The Surprise Saguaros (13-7) have been playing winning baseball except for the last two games they've played against the Glendale Desert Dogs (12-8) who now sit one game behind the Saguaros. The Saguaros are the hottest team in the Arizona Fall League and that doesn't change after losing 8-3 to the Scorpions (6-11) on Monday to move to 12-4. Couple that loss with the 10-5 loss to the Javelinas on Tuesday. They will look to end their 2-game losing streak today with Rangers right-hander Owen White starting on the mound. The Suprise Saguaros continue their dominance of the Arizona Fall League and have now won six games in a row. The Solar Sox made it interesting but the Saguaros held on to win by a final of 10-9 at Sloan Park in front of a crowd of 401. Right-hander James Marinan got the start for the Saguaros against right-hander Michael Dominguez. Royals pitching prospect, Asa Lacy started for the Saguaros. The left-hander tossed three scoreless innings, giving up two hits, two walks and striking out five batters. Right-hander James Marinan of the Cincinnati Reds got the start for the Saguaros and he faced off against right-hander Robinson Pina (Angels) for the Desert Dogs. Right-hander Tim Brennan (0-1, 20.25) of the Texas Rangers was the first out of the pen for the Saguaros and ultimately was tagged with the loss. It took the Surprise Saguaros three games into the Arizona Fall League season to lose their 1st game. They lost by a final of 9-3 to the Solar Sox and move to 2-1 with 27 games left to play. Right-hander Jeff Criswell, one of the Oakland Athletics pitching prospects got the start for the Solar Sox and earned the win. He allowed two runs on three hits, one walk, and struck out five batters in 3.2 innings pitched. The pitching staff as a whole for the Solar Sox issued 9 walks and struckout 11.
