The Texas Rangers promoted catching prospect Malcolm Moore from the High-A Hub City Spartanburgers to the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders.
For those closely following the Rangers' talent pipeline, a promotion for Moore has felt like it was coming for a couple of weeks since he has been putting together a fantastic season with the Spartanburgers. Now he'll test his bat against the advanced pitching of the Texas League.
Moore leaves Hub City with a slash line of .300/.387/.542 with a .929 OPS and setting new single-season career-highs with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs.
Beyond the offensive fireworks, Moore has made immense strides on the defensive side of the ball. He has thrown out 33 would-be base-stealers so far this season, throwing runners out at a 33% clip—a new career-high mark for him behind the plate.
Selected by the Texas Rangers with the 30th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Moore was heavily projected as a power-hitting catcher whose bat would carry him through the system. While his initial adjustment to professional ball came with a learning curve, his 2026 campaign has erased some of the doubt. Moore has put his traits on full display, transforming into the frontline catching threat the Rangers front office envisioned when they drafted him.
By being promoted to Frisco, the Rangers' catcher of the future is officially one step closer to Arlington. The jump from High-A to Double-A is widely regarded as the most challenging adjustment in the minor leagues so it'll be interesting to see how his bat handles the test.
Congratulations to Malcolm Moore on his well deserved promotion!
