Welcome to another daily edition of Around the Farm. Things are good on the farm at the moment. We’ve got a surplus of prospects that are waiting to be moved.
Nashville Sounds (3-7)
The Sounds have the worst record of any of the Rangers minor-league affiliates. They lost 5-3 to the San Antonio Missions.
Phillips Valdez (0-1, 2.35) got the start for the Sounds and lasted 4.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits (1 HR) and 4 strikeouts.
Taylor Guerrieri (5.06)
Pitched 1.1 shutout innings and struck out 2.
Tim Dillard (9.53)
Pitched 1 inning and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits including a home run. He walked 1 and struck out 1.
Nick Gardewine (0.00)
Continues his hot start to the season. He only pitched .2 innings and walked 1 but struck out 2. He has 4.1 scoreless innings altogether.
Offense
Carlos Tocci (.289 AVG, .720 OPS)
Went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts. We’ll keep watching for him.
Eli White (.200 AVG, .678 OPS)
White was 1-3 with a run, walk and a strikeout. He was also caught stealing and had a throwing error.
Willie Calhoun (.243 AVG, .783 OPS)
Calhoun has begun to bring up his batting average. He went 1-4 with an RBI and a strikeout.
Andy Ib??ez (.429 AVG, 1.074 OPS)
went 1-4 with a run and an RBI. He struck out 1 time as well.
Jose Trevino (.185 AVG, .526 OPS)
went 2-3 which is encouraging. Hopefully he can string together a few more multi-hit games.
Adam Moore (.250 AVG, .750 OPS)
went 1-3 including his 1st home run of the year. He struck out 1 time as well.
Frisco RoughRiders (8-1)
For the RoughRiders, it was Joe Palumbo (6.35 ERA) day again. This outing he went 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. He threw 86 pitches, 51 for strikes and didn’t factor into the decision.
The bullpen held the RockHounds scoreless for 3.1 innings. Yoel Espinal (1.42 ERA) struck out 1 in his 1.1 innings.?Blake Bass?(0.00) pitched 2 scoreless innings and allowed 2 hits and struck out 4.
Offense
Christian Lopes had himself a game as he went 4-5 with a run and 4 RBI. He hit hit 1st home run of the year and is hitting .357 with an .972 OPS.
Juremi Profar went 3-4 with 2 runs. His average is at .233 and has a .594 OPS.
Brendon Davis accounted for the other RBI. He went 1-2 with 2 walks and his average is .087 with an OPS of .352.
Down East Wood Ducks (6-4)
The Wood Ducks beat the Hillcats by a final of 4-1. Reid Anderson started and pitched 4.2 innings.He only allowed 1 run on 1 hit but walked 5 and struck out 3. His ERA on the year is 1.00.
Josh Advocate got his 2nd win of the year by pitching 2.1 scoreless innings. He struck out 3 and has an ERA of 1.59.
Joe Barlow got his first hold and has a 1.69 ERA.
Emmanuel Clase struck out 2 in his scoreless inning to get his 1st save of the year.
Offense
Anderson Tejeda had a game as he went 3-3 with 2 RBI and he walked and was caught stealing as well. But he did have 2 stolen bases. His average is .394 with an OPS of .974.
Yanio Perez was the only other in the line-up that managed a hit. He went 2-1 with 1 strikeout and his hitting .208 on the year.
Hickory Crawdads (8-2)
The Crawdads aren’t intimidated! They beat the the Intimidators in walkoff style in the bottom of the 10th. They won 5-6 thanks to a double by Curtis Terry. If you don’t know who this guy is, pay attention.
Let’s get back to the pitching and give a shout out to John King who pitched 6 innings allowing 1 unearned run and striking out 4. His ERA is an even 4 on the year now. Unfortunately he did not factor into the decision.
Sean Chandler pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.
Cole Uvila picked up his 2nd win of the season. He allowed a run on a hit but it was un-earned and struck out 4.
Curtis Terry was the star of the line-up. He went 2-5 including his 3rd home run of the year. He had 3 RBI and struck out 2 times. His average is at .324 with an OPS of 1.078. We will keep an eye on this kid.
Sherten Apostel went 1 for 4 and hit his 1st home run of the year. He struck out 2 times and his average is still below the .200 at .167. He had a fielding error, his 3rd of the season.
Pedro Gonzalez went 1-3 with 2 runs and an RBI. He worked a walk and struck out as well. His average is now at .200.
