Arturo Disla has been one of my favorite prospects to follow since he signed with the Texas Rangers in July of 2023 as a free agent. In 2026, he put together the best season of his career.
Splitting time between High-A Hub City and Double-A Frisco, Disla set career highs with 25 home runs, 96 RBI and 62 walks while slashing .294/.378/.528 with a .906 OPS in 124 games. He played first base and designated hitter.
A fast start at Hub City
Disla opened the season with Hub City and wasted little time. He was named the Rangers Minor League Player of the Month for April after slashing .372/.474/.654 with a 1.128 OPS, five home runs and 19 RBI.
Over 30 games with Hub City, he hit .314/.434/.559 with a .993 OPS, six home runs and 21 RBI before earning a promotion to Frisco.
Settling in at Double-A
It was good to finally see him in person once he got to Frisco. Watching him play, he reminds me of a right-handed Prince Fielder.
In 94 games with the RoughRiders, Disla slashed .288/.361/.519 with an .880 OPS, 19 home runs, 75 RBI and 41 walks.
He was named the Rangers Minor League Player of the Month for the second time this season in July, when he slashed .337/.434/.651 with a 1.085 OPS, five home runs and 23 RBI in 23 games. Those 23 RBI were his most in any month this season.
Production from both sides
Disla handled pitchers from both sides. Against right-handers, he slashed .287/.373/.506 with an .879 OPS, 17 home runs and 67 RBI. Against left-handers, he hit .315/.395/.602 with a .997 OPS, eight home runs and 29 RBI.
His power also came in bunches. He hit five home runs in each of April, July and September, and posted an OPS over 1.000 in all three of those months.
Rule 5 Eligible
Two Player of the Month awards, a promotion and career highs across the board made 2026 a breakout year for Disla. The power has always been there, but the 62 walks show a hitter who has improved his approach at the plate, and he carried that production into Double-A.
That production also puts the Rangers in a position where they will need to decide if they want to add him to the 40-man this winter. Disla is Rule 5 eligible this offseason, and if he isn't added to the 40-man roster, the Rangers risk losing him to another team in the Rule 5 draft in December.
