The Texas Rangers have added right-handed pitcher Aidan Curry to their 40-man roster, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The move has not yet appeared as an official transaction.

Curry was set to become a minor league free agent on Monday, and selecting his contract keeps that from happening. In my opinion, this is a really good move. It keeps one of the top arms in the organization, and we have Curry ranked as the Rangers' No. 19 prospect in our latest Top 30 update.

The 24-year-old pitched at three levels this season. He started at High-A Hub City, moved up to Double-A Frisco and made a start for Triple-A Round Rock.

He finished with a 4.93 ERA in 104.0 innings and recorded 128 strikeouts. It's the fourth season in a row he's recorded at least 100 strikeouts.

Curry works with a five-pitch mix: four-seam fastball, cutter, sweeper, changeup and curveball. He has swing-and-miss stuff, and his 28.8 K% shows it. That ranked 18th in the system and first among pitchers with at least 100 innings.

Curry was also one of just six pitchers in the entire farm system to throw more than 100 innings this season.

This is good news to me. Aidan is one of my favorite pitchers to follow, and I'm glad he's staying in the organization.

Congratulations to Aidan Curry on being added to the 40-man!
