Those of you that track the Rangers farm system may already be aware, but if not, a name you might want to know is Jose Silvestre. The right-hander is putting together the best season of his young career for the DSL Rangers Blue, and he's doing it after missing all of 2025 due to injury.
Through 10 starts, Silvestre has a 2.48 ERA across 36.1 innings, with 48 strikeouts against 17 walks and a 1.073 WHIP. Both his innings pitched and strikeout totals are career bests for him so far.
Some Of The Numbers
The turnaround from his previous season on the mound has been significant. In 2024, Silvestre went 0-6 with an 8.91 ERA across 32.1 innings, walking 27 batters against 37 strikeouts and posting a 2.04 WHIP. This season's numbers represent a nice jump in both results and performance across the board.
Hitters from both sides of the plate have struggled against him in 2026. Left-handed batters have hit just .148/.229/.197/.425 against Silvestre. Right-handed batters haven't fared much better, hitting .197/.308/.288 for a .596 OPS.
Scouting Snapshot
Silvestre stands 6-foot, 165 pounds, and throws and bats right-handed. His fastball has been praised for its location, and his slider is considered his most effective pitch, particularly against right-handed hitters.
Background
The Rangers signed Silvestre as a free agent on January 15, 2024, to a minor league contract. He missed the entire 2025 season due to injury before returning this year to the DSL Rangers Blue.
