Rangers Minor League players of the Month: July

July was a big month for Texas Rangers’ minor league players, with several players being named ‘Player of the Month’.

Hickory’s INF Thomas Saggese was named Player of the Month of July.

Thomas hit .377 with 5 home runs, 19 RBI, 5 doubles, 1 triple and 2 steals. Thomas ,20, was the Rangers 5th rd pick in 2020 #145 overall from Carlsbad, CA.

For the season Thomas has a .309 batting average with 13 homers, 53 RBI and 11 steals.

Down East Pitcher Mitch Bratt was named Starting Pitcher of The Month of July.

In four games, Mitch went 3-1 with a 1.96 era in 18 innings. Mitch gave up 13 hits, 6 walks and struckout 23.

For the season in 15 gms 4-3 win-loss record with a 2.35 era in 61 innings with 76 strikeouts.

Hickory’s RHP Theo McDowell was named Reliever of The Month of July.

Theo in 8 games went 1-0 with a 0.00 era in 10 innings. Theo gave up 4 hits, 3 walks and 11 strikeouts.

The 23 yr old was selected in the 14th rd of the 2018 draft #419 overall from Salisbury CT.

For the season Theo in 31 games has a 5-2 win-loss record with a 2.75 era in 39 innings with49 strikeouts.

Round Rock’s OF Bubba Thompson was named Defender of the Month

Bubba posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage over 21 games with 39 chances. Bubba had his 1st outfield assist on July 28th against Sacramento.

Bubba made his Major League debut on August 4th going 1-for-3.

Congratulations to these players on a job well done! These players will no doubt be ones to watch in the future.
