Texas Rangers No. 2 prospect Caden Scarborough has been selected to play in the 2026 All-Star Futures Game. Baseball announced that the 21-year-old right-handed starting pitcher has been officially selected to represent the organization at the 2026 All-Star Futures Game on July 12 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
The honor serves as a formal validation of what those tracking the Rangers' farm system have known for the better part of two years: Scarborough has evolved into one of the most dynamic young arms in the minor leagues.
Selected by the Texas Rangers in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Harmony High School in Florida, Scarborough signed an over-slot deal taking him away from a Dallas Baptist commitment.
A strained lat delayed his professional debut until mid-summer 2024, leading to a brief and rocky six-inning stint in the Arizona Complex League (6.00 ERA) followed by 4.1 innings at Single-A Down East (8.31 ERA). Entering the 2025 calendar year, MLB Pipeline had him as the organization's No. 28 prospect.
Then, the script completely changed.
Scarborough spent the 2025 campaign dominating with Single-A Hickory, logging 75.0 innings across 19 appearances (18 starts). He completely silenced South Atlantic League bats to the tune of a 2.88 ERA, showcasing fantastic control by issuing just 19 walks against 95 strikeouts. His late-season promotion to High-A Hub City only intensified his dominance; across 3 starts (13.0 innings) with the Spartanburgers, he posted a flawless 0.00 ERA with a 19-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
By winter, Scarborough was a two-time recipient of Texas' Minor League Pitcher of the Month (July and August) and concluded his breakout year leading all Texas farmhands in WHIP (0.88) and opponent OPS (.512) across 22 total games.
Maintaining Elite Form in 2026
Scarborough's faced a temporary hurdle when he began the 2026 season on the Hub City injured list while recovering from an offseason surgery to remove malignant melanoma on his neck in February. His return to the mound has proven that his strike-throwing ability remains.
He is currently ranked as the 66th-best prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline. The 6-foot-5 right-hander has logged a 3.86 ERA with 29 strikeouts and just 8 walks over 7 starts split between a rehab assignment in the ACL and a full-time return to the Carolina League. His 0.93 WHIP with Hub City currently ranks 9th among all High-A starters with a minimum of five games started.
Featuring a heavy 95+ MPH fastball with elite extension and a devastating low-80s slider, Scarborough has verified his status as an impact starter.
Baseball fans that keep up with prospects know who Caden Scarborough is but for anyone that just tunes in every once in a while or casually watch the All-star game will soon know his name.
