Sebastian Walcott may return to shortstop for the Frisco RoughRiders regular season finale, according to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News. Fenstermaker told Grant on Wednesday that Walcott is on track to log about five innings at shortstop in Sunday's finale against Wichita, assuming he comes through the rest of the week with no issues.

The move would basically serve as a test run for the Texas League playoffs, where the Rangers appear willing to let Walcott play at his natural position.

Walcott has been on an absolute tear at the plate since returning to the RoughRiders lineup, though exclusively as the DH so far. Across 36 games this season, 34 of them with Frisco, he's hit 10 home runs with 21 RBI, 10 stolen bases, 18 walks and a 1.006 OPS. His contact quality has trended up as well.

What stands out most to me is the power output. Walcott's previous single-season high was 13 home runs, set in 124 games with Frisco in 2025. He's nearly matched that total in less than a third as many games this time around. It's been fun to watch.

Frisco opens the Texas League South Division Series on the road in Amarillo against the Sod Poodles next Tuesday, then is scheduled to host at least one game at Riders Field on Thursday, with a second home date Friday if the series requires it.

Walcott, along with two or three teammates, won't be back in Frisco next season, so these home playoff games at Riders Field are fans' last chance to see them in a RoughRiders uniform. It's worth making the trip out to Frisco while you still can.
