Not Your Daddy's Recap: 8/7/2020

Let me start out by saying this has been a day already.  I'm teaching two teens how to drive.  Why do I bring this up?  Because dear reader, I'm not sure how much "filter" I have left today. We're back at Globe Life Park which, to me, has been a pitcher's park so far.  Fingers crossed for Lyles on the mound as Trout is in town. The team has me feeling frustrated and I'm sure some of you are too.  Odor is in as DH. There's no Gallo tonight (sore wrist) but we've got Tejeda back in the lineup. We

Anderson Tejeda steals the show in MLB debut

Anderson Tejeda is one of the Rangers top prospects and he stole the show in his MLB debut against the Athletics. No one would have predicted that he would have made his debut this year and if this was a normal season, he probably wouldn't have. But yet, here we are Anderson Tejeda's MLB debut was an absolute home run! Unfortunately for the Rangers, they were swept out of Oakland and lost by a final of 6-4 and now have a 3-8 record but the rookie impressed. Unfortunately,  the Rangers lost by

Not Your Daddy's Recap: July 28 2020

Hey y'all and welcome to another "Not Your Daddy's Recap". Tonight we've got our Texas Rangers matching up with Arizona. Kyle Gibson is on the mound making his Rangers debut. If you're new to "Not Your Daddy's" here's how we play: nothing but the highlights!  And of course whatever wanders across my mind during the game. Ketel Marte hits the first pitch from Gibson but thankfully it is almost right to Gallo, who makes the catch.  I am wondering if this is an omen. Full count to Kole Calhoun.
Is it too early for Rangers fans to panic?

Is it too early for Rangers fans to panic?

The Rangers can't have anything nice, or so it seems.  The Rangers top off-season acquisition, Corey Kluber made his debut and it didn't go as we would have hoped. He only pitched one inning due to tightness in the back of his right shoulder. Not good news for the Rangers. Hopefully, it won't be a major issue and he will only miss a start or two but in this shortened season, it's a big deal. Is it too early for Rangers fans to panic? It is too early but I've got my finger hovering over the panic

MLB The Show, "Not Your Daddy's Recap" Style: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers

It's a beautiful April evening in Arlington as the Texas Rangers take on the Houston Astros at their new ballpark.  The Rangers are in their home whites while the Astros and wearing blue and orange bp jerseys with grey pants.   Lance Lynn is on the mound for the Rangers, with Jose Urquidy up for the Astros. Besides bragging rights, winner of this game gets dinner cooked for them.  I do NOT feel like cooking, so pray I can pull of the impossible with a win. Let's kick this off "Not Your Daddy's

Talking Nashville Sounds Baseball With Director Of Broadcasting Play By Play Man Jeff Hem

Ask any true sports fan and they will tell you that a play by play announcer is the heartbeat of any event to someone listening. Their job is to put the fan at the game. To bring such a bright light of detail that who ever is listening can follow along and get the same feeling of actually being there. This is especially true for baseball as a lot of people don't follow the game because they find it boring. How can anyone listen to Vin Scully and find baseball boring?? Jeff Hem takes minor leag

Talking to Top 10 Rangers Prospect Julio Pablo Martinez

Many considered the signing of Julio Pablo Martinez on March 6, 2018 a huge get for the Texas Rangers in the International market for prospects. Martinez, standing 5-10 and weighing in at appx. 180 lbs. turned 23 years old on March 1, was promoted from Hickory (Low A) to Down East (High A) on April 17 when Bubba Thompson went on the IL with a hand injury. Martinez is hitting .258 in 83 games so far in his professional minor league career. Obviously the sample size isn't large enough to get a tr
