Wood Ducks announce June Players of the Month

The Texas Rangers Low-A affiliate, the Down East Wood Ducks named four players for Players of the Month of June.

Starter of the Month

RHP Mitch Bratt, who just turned 19 on July 3, was the Rangers 5th round pick (134th overall) from Georgia Premier, Statesboro GA.

In 4 starts, Mitch has a 1-1 win-loss record with a 1.42 earned run average in 19 innings pitched. He’s given up 3 runs on 13 hits, issued just 2 walks, and struck out 2.

For the month of July, Mitch has a 2-0 win-loss record in 10 innings, allowing 5 hits, issuing 3 walks and striking out 13.

For the season Mitch has 10 starts under his belt with a 3-2 win-loss record in 10 starts with a 1.84 era, 50 innings and 68 strikeouts.

Reliever of the Month

RHP Theo McDowell 23 yr old 2018 14th round 419 overall from Salisbury School, Salisbury CT.

Theo who since been promoted to High-A Hickory but in June with the Wood Ducks he appeared in 7 games posting a 2-0 win-loss record with a 2.16 earned run average. He earned 1 save in 8.1 innings: 4 hits 2 runs 2 walks, 12 strikeouts.

In July, Theo has appeared in 4 games and has a 1-0 win-loss record with a 0.00 era in 5 innings: ZERO hits 1 walk and 7 strikeouts

For the season Theo has a 5-1 win-loss record with a 2.32 era, 1 save in 31 innings with 41 strikeouts.

Player of the Month

OF Daniel Mateo 21 yr old from Brocail Chica, Dominican Republic

In 85 at bats he has a .318 average, 27 hits, 4 HR, 17 RBI, 11 runs and is 15 for 18 in steals.

For July Daniel is hitting: .306 avg, 3 HR, 9 RBI, and6 steals

For the season Daniel in 254 AB he’s has a .280 avg 9 Hr. 39 RBI’s 29 Stolen bases.

Defender of the Month

SS Junior Paniagua, 20, from Bani, Dominican Republic.

In 62 Total Chances, he had 15 Putouts, 45 assists with a .968 fielding percentage.
