Texas Rangers prospect RHP Jacob Johnson has been named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 31-Sept. 6, a nice cap to a strong first year in the organization.

Johnson earned the honor after his dominant start on September 5 against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, tossing 5.0 scoreless, hitless innings. He walked two and struck out one over 70 pitches, 40 of them strikes.

The effort helped push the Hickory Crawdads to their 15th consecutive win.
