MLB- Texas Rangers
Not Your Daddy's Recap 9/4/2020
It's September and folks, I'm fiesty. The good; We got to keep Lance Lynn, Leody Taveras staying up in the big league, and Jose Trevino bumped up to starting catcher. The nasty: One could also argue keeping Lance Lynn, WHERE IN THE WORLD IS DeMARCUS EVANS, and virtual schooling my 11 and 12 year old boys. I'm not made for teaching, y'all. But I'll throw in some virtual schooling tips I've learned on this journey. Tonight the Rangers are in Seattle. Kyle Cody is making his MLB debut on the mound
Solak, Trevino look good despite loss
Today's loss was still a great game by Nick Solak and Jose Trevino. Solak had a phenomenal game today. He doubled in the second and scored a run, singled in the fourth and scored a run, and doubled in the sixth and scored. This was his third three-hit game and his eleventh multi-hit game of the year. Another fantastic game was had by Trevino. He had an RBI double in the second, advanced Solak to second on a ground out in the fourth, had an RBI ground out in the sixth, and a base hit to right
Youth Movement: Davis Wendzel & others added to 60-man
This afternoon our Rangers made several moves with their 60-man player pool. They started the youth movement by assigning Davis Wendzel along with outfielders Bubba Thompson and Steele Walker, to the alternate site. This is what some fans, including most of us at The Prospect Times, have been calling for. Not that all of these guys will play. There will have to be other moves made to the roster for these guys to play. But it's nice to dream. Davis Wendzel Davis Wendzel was drafted by the Ran

Odor to IL, Anderson Tejeda, Eli White called up
After what many Ranger fans view as a failed trade deadline, the Rangers have announced more roster moves. Eli White called up along with Anderson Tejeda and pitcher John King. John King Rougned Odor is heading to the IL for his eye infection that has had him benched. It appears that what we've been calling for is going to happen. It's time to let the prospects play. Anderson Tejeda Anderson Tejeda is being called back up from the alternate site. In hindsight, I don't think he should've bee
Rangers trade Chirinos and Toddfather to Mets to beat 3 o'clock deadline
Well everyone woke up saying that our Rangers will be the big sellers in this year trade deadline. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, we weren’t! The morning started with the Indians and Padres working a trade that sent Mike Clevinger to San Diego. Then the rumors started going around that Lance Lynn was going here and there just to end up staying with our Rangers. Then the rumors of Joey Gallo getting traded continued from yesterday, well that didn’t happen either. What did happen was Mi
Rangers trade Minor to the Athletics for Marcus Smith and Dustin Harris
Mike Minor is no longer a Ranger. He was traded to one of the Rangers Division rivals: the Athletics. I dont have an issue trading within the Division in this scenario since Minor is a free agent at the end of the year. Minor came to the Rangers as a Free Agent Signing a 3 year deal in 2018 from the Royals. Mike was in the bullpen with the Royals before signing with the Rangers to be one of the top of the rotation pitchers. The return for Texas was two PTBNL - which turned out to be OF Marcus
Rangers sign Jerad Eickhoff to minor deal
This was announced yesterday but the Rangers have signed Jerad Eickhoff to a minor league contract so they officially win the Cole Hamels trade. I just had to throw that in there. Eickhoff never made it to the majors with the Rangers but he did with the Phillies after the Hamels trade. In his 5 years with Phillies he had a career record of 21-30 with a 4.15 earned run average. His best years were in 2015 when he made his MLB Debut and in 2016. In 2015 he went 3-3 with a 2.65 earned run average
Ranger things trade deadline edition: Rangers lose to Dodgers
I dont believe the Dodgers have lost a series yet this year. So it's no surprise as I sit here tonight that the Texas Rangers lost two out of three games to the Dodgers. They lost on Sunday by a final of 7-2 and move to 12-21 on the season. Some notes on the 7-4 loss on Saturday Lynn did all he could in the 7-4 loss on Saturday. He was tagged with his first loss of the year but he pitched 6 innings. He allowed 4 runs, 3 earned on 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. Kyle Cody pitched 2.1 scorel
Not Your Daddy's Recap 8/28/2020
Hey y'all and welcome to “Not Your Daddy's Recap.” If you're new here, we do things a little differently. Don't expect a play-by-play, and I do happen to mention whatever crosses my mind. First, on a personal note, Happy Birthday to my dad. Love you! Tonight our Rangers take on the Dodgers. I don't know, I'm optimistic for tonight, and that rarely happens lately. To misquote Han Solo, “I've got a good feeling about this.” Grab a drink and settle in. Minor is on the mound for the Rangers, batt
