Texas Rangers No. 1 prospect Sebastian Walcott played shortstop, his natural position, for the first time this season on Sunday in the RoughRiders' regular season finale. He played 5.0 innings there before Luke Hanson pinch hit for him in the top of the 6th and took over shortstop duties in the bottom of the inning. Walcott looked sharp in his time at short, handling a handful of chances in the field, charging a couple of balls, cleanly transferring from glove to hand, and making the throw each time. One throw came in low, but Disla, playing first base, scooped it to complete the play.
Walcott finished the game going 1-for-3 with a run. He finished the regular season with a .322 batting average and a .984 OPS for Frisco. Not bad at all.
Frisco closed out its 2026 regular season with a 10-8 win over the Wichita Wind Surge, finishing the year with a 73-64 record. Frisco won the first-half Texas League South Division title after going 39-29 in the opening half.
Frisco matched its 2025 win total, finishing with exactly 73 wins for the second straight season. That's down from 2024, when the club went 84-54.
At the Plate
Arturo Disla capped the season by homering in three consecutive games, giving him 19 home runs at the Double-A level. He hit six more for Hub City before his promotion to Frisco, bringing his season total to 25, a career-high. His 96 RBI also set a new career mark.
Marcus Lee Sang had a four-hit day, going 4-for-5 with a home run and 5 RBI. Recently promoted Gleider Figuereo also went deep, finishing 1-for-3 with a home run, 4 RBI, and a walk. It's likely he'll see time in the field during the Texas League playoffs as well.
Dylan Dreiling, Disla, Yeison Morrobel and Lee Sang each had a multi-hit game. I think this lineup is in good shape heading into the playoff run.
On the Mound
Thomas Ireland got the start and went 4.2 IP, allowing 3 R on 7 H with 2 BB and an HBP, striking out 2. He threw 78 pitches, 52 for strikes.
Dylan MacLean, reinstated from the 7-day IL, worked 0.1 IP, allowing 1 R on 4 H, throwing 22 pitches, 16 for strikes.
Wily Villar worked 1.0 IP, allowing 1 R on 3 H with 1 BB, throwing 16 pitches, 8 for strikes.
J'Briell Easley went 1.2 IP, allowing 2 R on 3 H with 1 BB and an HBP, striking out 1, throwing 35 pitches, 18 for strikes.
Joey Danielson picked up the save with an inning of work out of the bullpen, allowing 1 R on 0 H with 1 BB and an HBP, striking out 1, throwing 29 pitches, 17 for strikes.
