The Texas Rangers have announced their minor league players of the month for May, with three out of four spots going to players from the Frisco RoughRiders. The Rangers named winners for four awards: Player of the Month, Starting Pitcher of the Month, Relief Pitcher of the Month and Defender of the Month. Zak Kent made his eighth start of the season. Prior to first pitch in Wichita, he had a 0-1 win-loss record with a 6.75 earned run average. Kent's career-high in strikeouts is 13. By the end of the game Kent had pitched seven innings and shaved over a run off of his earned run average and brought it to 5.61 for the season. This was his best start of the season by far. Of his 9 strikeouts/7 were swinging. He was pretty economical with his pitches as well throwing 89 pitches/58 for strikes. K

The Arizona Complex League is set to begin play on Monday June 6, 2022. The Arizona Complex League (ACL) is what was formerly known as the Arizona League (AZL). The RoughRiders are in Wichita Kansas playing the Wichita Wind Surge. This is their first time playing the Wind Surge, who began play in 2021. The Rangers top prospect Jack Leiter started the RoughRiders 1st game today, although technically he came out of the bullpen to continue the suspended game from May 31st. The Texas Rangers have called up their 7th ranked prospect, Josh Smith on Memorial Day prior to the game. Smith, 25 in August, was just one piece of the Joey Gallo trade. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the 38th round of the 2016 draft but went to college at LSU. He was then drafted by the Yankees in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft. Ezequiel Duran leads all of baseball with 21 doubles
Ezequiel Duran continues to be one of the exciting storylines coming out of Frisco this season. As you know, Duran was part of the Joey Gallo trade. His arrival along with Josh Smith and Trevor Hauver gave a pretty big boost to the Rangers farm system. Glenn Otto was also part of the Gallo trade. Duran has really impressed at the plate, making hard contact with the baseball and tonight went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Ezequiel Duran leads all of baseball again, this time with 21 double
