Rangers Minor League Roundup: Some Early Standouts
Early season standouts in the Texas Rangers system: Hector Osorio, Michael Trausch, and Deward Tovar lead a list of top minor league performers
We are now about two and a half weeks into the minor league season. There have been quite a few players who have made a nice impression in the early going, including some who put together an impressive week from April 14–19. Below are some of those players.
Triple-A Round Rock Express
Peyton Grey, RHP
Season: 12.2 IP, 2 BB, 15 SO, 0.00 ERA
Grey has pitched 12 2/3 innings and still hasn’t allowed a run for Round Rock. He could be one called up soon to help shore up the Texas Rangers bullpen.
Alexis Díaz, RHP
Season: 8.0 IP, 1 H, 5 BB, 12 SO
Díaz has pitched eight innings and given up only one hit. While he has walked five batters, nothing has come back to bite him as he has racked up 12 strikeouts to maintain a 0.00 ERA.
Double-A Frisco RoughRiders
Corey Joyce, SS
Week: 10-for-21, 2 HR, 9 RBIs
Joyce, 27, finished his first week with Frisco with another two-hit game to cap off a productive offensive stretch.
High-A Hub City Spartanburgers
Yeison Morrobel, OF
Series: .333/.385/.750, 1.135 OPS, 3 HR, 8 RBIs
The 22-year-old outfielder carried a big bat in the series against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals).
Aidan Curry, RHP
Week: 5 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 SO
The 23-year-old had one of the best performances of the week for starters during his outing against the Blue Rocks. In his nine innings across two starts this season, he has issued only one walk while striking out 13.
Single-A Hickory Crawdads
Michael Trausch, LHP
Season: 9.2 IP, 5 BB, 13 SO, 0.724 WHIP
The 22-year-old relief pitcher added another scoreless 1 2/3 innings yesterday, giving up just one hit and striking out three in his outing.
Hector Osorio, OF
Series: .421/.577/.947, 1.524 OPS, 2 HR, 9 RBIs, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 SB
Osorio had a nice week for the Crawdads as they faced the Salem RidgeYaks (Red Sox). During the six-game series, he recorded two doubles, a triple, and three stolen bases to go along with the power numbers.
Deward Tovar, OF
Week: .280/.308/.720, 1.028 OPS, 3 HR, 8 RBIs
The 20-year-old outfielder had a unique showing this week. One of his home runs was an inside-the-parker, and later in that same game, he hit a traditional home run.
Jesus Lafalaise, RHP
Season: 12.1 IP, 0.73 ERA, 3 BB, 11 SO
The 21-year-old allowed his first earned run of the year against the RidgeYaks on April 19. His line for the game: 4.1 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 5 H, 6 SO, 76 pitches/47 strikes.
Aidan Deakins, LHP
Season: 8 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 8 SO, 1.00 WHIP
The 22-year-old left-hander and 2024 13th-round pick has allowed three runs for Hickory, but all of them are unearned.
