RoughRiders lose 4 in a row on Weiner Wednesday

Desperate is not the word but the RoughRiders needed a win on this Weiner Wednesday. Left-hander Cody Bradford got the start for the RoughRiders Bubba Thompson hit a ball 403 feet to left center field to put the RoughRiders on the board in the bottom of the 1st. They held the lead until the top of the 3rd. I saw Bradford top out at 90 in the 1st inning of the game and as it went on he sat at 87-89, his off-speed bottomed out at 78. He pitched 5 innings and allowed four runs- three earned on se

RoughRiders lose 15-1 to the Sod Poodles

The RoughRiders lose 15-1 to the Amarillo Sod Poodles and move to 56-41 on the season with 23 games left to play. This really is going to be a shorter recap just because the score was so lopsided and no one wants to read a long recap about a 15-1 loss. Instead, let's highlight a few positives. Josh Stowers hit his team-leading 17th home run of the season to avoid being shutout by the Sod Poodles. Josh Smith, Justin Foscue, Davis Wendzel and Diosbel Arias each had a hit. Out of the pen Daniel

Zak Kent solid but RoughRiders lose on 80's night

Frisco, Texas- A crowd of 9,062 fans filled the seats at Riders Field on 80's night. Unfortunately, the RoughRiders lost 2-1 to the Travelers in what turned out to be a rather low-scoring affair. On the mound Right-hander Zak Kent took the mound for the RoughRiders. It was his home debut and he didn't disappoint. He pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 walks and striking out 7. His earned run average dropped from 1.50 to 0.82 in his two games with the RoughRiders. I didn't look at th

Blaine Crim was promoted, homered, Riders win

Blaine Crim was promoted, homered and the RoughRiders won 7-5 over the Amarillo Sod Poodles and added another game into the win column for the 48th time this season. Blaine Crim was promoted to Double-A Frisco and was promptly inserted into the line-up as the DH. Crim continued to do what he's been doing in High-A Hickory; he homered in the bottom of the 7th. It was a two-run shot and turned out it to be the game winner. Crim's line: 1-3 with the HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB, SO. .333 AVG/1.833 OPS whic

Springfield Cardinals at Frisco RoughRiders July 13-18

The Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of, you guessed it....the St Louis Cardinals are in town at Riders Field to start a new six-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders. They bring along their 22-38 record which is good for last place (5th) in the Double-A Central North. They have a 6-4 record in the their last 10-games with a two-game losing streak. The RoughRiders still maintain their hold on first place but they're on the wrong end of a streak with a three-game losing streak.

RoughRiders win 8-0, snap 3 game losing streak

We knew the losing streak wouldn't last much longer. The RoughRiders are back in the win column after losing 3-games in a row. They won by a final of 8-0 over the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). They move to 37-20 on the season while the Travelers move to 29-27. On the mound Right-hander Noah Bremer, was just activated from the IL and made his 1st start of the season, replacing Cole Winn who was originally scheduled to pitch. Bremer (5.34) had a strong outing but didn't pitch the required 5 in

Riders win their 10th in a row

The RoughRiders have won 10 games in a row. That's something that isn't easy to do but yet they've done it. They won by a final of 4-3 and swept the series against the San Antonio Missions (Padres). Hans Crouse started for the RoughRiders and pitched one inning. He walked CJ Abrams and then gave up a two-run home run on a 2-2 pitch to Eguy Rosario, who had the interference called against him in the Riders 5-4 walk-off win on Saturday. The final line for Crouse was 1 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO. He

Riders split the series with the Naturals

The Naturals came into the series with a record of 13-14 and the Frisco RoughRiders had a record of 18-11. You can read the series preview here. This series saw plenty of walks, home runs, and fantastic defense. As the title suggests, the series was split at three games a piece for each team. The first game of the series, the RoughRiders had a difficult time keeping # 7 ranked prospect Bobby Witt Jr off-base. Nick Pratto is also one that is difficult for opposing pitchers to handle. Hans Crouse made first start in Frisco

Hans Crouse, the right-hander who's ranked as one of the Rangers top pitching prospects, took the mound in Frisco for the first time last night. I would have guessed he would have pitched four innings since he's pitched an extra inning in each of his first three starts. He pitched three innings in his last start against the Midland RockHounds and allowed his first run at the plate. The RoughRiders came into this game with a 17-9 record. Now they've got a 17-10 record and have a half a game lea
