A crowd of 5,278 filled the seats at Riders Field and watched the Frisco RoughRiders win their 60th game of the season. They won 6-3 over the San Antonio Missions and they needed this to avoid a season-high five-game losing streak.

The RoughRiders handed the ball to right-hander Noah Bremer (4-3, 4.63) and he pitched five innings. He allowed two-runs, one earned on five hits, three walks and three strikeouts. So now he’s got a 4.41 earned run average.

Out of the pen

Tyler Thomas (2-2, 4.18) was fantastic out of the pen and it was a blessing as the RoughRiders typically use around pitchers a game. Thomas pitched four innings giving up one run on a home run, one walk and struckout seven. He’s got a 3.96 earned run average.

At the plate

Sam Huff had a great night going 3-3 with two runs and a walk.

The Riders were down 2-0 until the bottom of the 4th when Josh Stowers (0-4, RBI) reached on a fielding error by Missions third baseman Olivier Basabe. Blaine Crim and Sam Huff both scored. That evened the score at 2. Jax Biggers later singled scoring Justin Foscue giving the RoughRiders the 3-2 lead.

The RoughRiders scored again in the bottom of the 6th. Justin Foscue reached on a fielding error that scored Sam Huff. Jax Biggers (2-3, 2 RBI) hit a two-out RBI double scoring Foscue and Bubba Thompson (2-5, RBI) hit an RBI-triple scoring Biggers for a 6-2 lead.

Josh H. Smith was hit by pitch for the 2nd consecutive game.

The only other score was by the Midsions in the top of the 9th from a home run by Olivier Basabe, his 4th of the year.

The Final: 6-3 RoughRiders

The RoughRiders become the 2nd Texas Rangers farm team to win 60-games this season. The Down East Wood Ducks (Low-A) were the 1st team to 60-wins.

What’s next?

The fourth game of this series is today, Friday, September 10th. Right-hander Cole Winn (3-3, 2.50), the Rangers 5th ranked prospect on our list, will take the mound for the RoughRiders. He’ll face the Missions and LHP Jerry Keel (1-4, 6.21).

It is Dallas Stars night along with fireworks Friday. Get to Riders Field as only the first 750 fans will get a voucher for a Hockey Teddy Bobblehead. Gates open at 5:30.
