Cody Bradford earned his 1st AA Win
Left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford earned his 1st AA win. The RoughRiders won by a final of 8-0 over the Arkansas Travelers and move to 53-37 on the season. On the mound Cody Bradford pitched a heck of a game and had the longest outing of any RoughRider this season. His seven shutout innings also helped the RoughRiders avoid a four-game losing streak, which would have been a season-high. During his seven innings he threw 81 pitches/65 for strikes and allowed 4 hits, 1 BB and struckout 9. It re
Arias delivers for RoughRiders 6th walk-off
On a 95 degree night: 5,103 fans were in attendance to see Cole Ragans make his 4th start of the season for the Frisco RoughRiders. Those who stayed until the end saw the RoughRiders down to their final out and Diosbel Arias hit a bases-loaded single to bring in two-runs for the RoughRiders 6th walk-off of the season. It was a much-needed win to bring the RoughRiders back into the win column and split the series 3-3 with the Sod Poodles. Here's a few highlights of how it played out. On the m
RoughRiders lose on fair night despite 3 HR's
It was State Fair night at Riders Field which featured a t-shirt giveaway to the first 500 fans and State Fair food staples including: Corn Dogs and funnel cakes. A crowd of 8,465 was on hand as the RoughRiders went by the name Corny Dogs and wore their special uniforms including the popular Corny Dog hat. On the Mound Ronny Henriquez (4.69) got the start for the RoughRiders and pitched four innings. He allowed one run on three hits, three walks and struckout six. Newly promoted Tai Tiedeman
Blaine Crim was promoted, homered, Riders win
Blaine Crim was promoted, homered and the RoughRiders won 7-5 over the Amarillo Sod Poodles and added another game into the win column for the 48th time this season. Blaine Crim was promoted to Double-A Frisco and was promptly inserted into the line-up as the DH. Crim continued to do what he's been doing in High-A Hickory; he homered in the bottom of the 7th. It was a two-run shot and turned out it to be the game winner. Crim's line: 1-3 with the HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB, SO. .333 AVG/1.833 OPS whic
Sam Huff hit a massive home run
Frisco, TX - There it is, the power of Sam Huff. A crowd of 3,583 was on hand to witness the Frisco RoughRiders lose in 10 innings 7-6 to the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St Louis Cardinals. They also saw the mammoth home run that Sam Huff hit that they will never forget. It traveled 495 feet and exited off the bat at 111 mph. I dont know if I will ever see another ball hit in that spot or that far in a game. The home run was his 1st of the season. Here's a recap of the g
Springfield Cardinals at Frisco RoughRiders July 13-18
The Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of, you guessed it....the St Louis Cardinals are in town at Riders Field to start a new six-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders. They bring along their 22-38 record which is good for last place (5th) in the Double-A Central North. They have a 6-4 record in the their last 10-games with a two-game losing streak. The RoughRiders still maintain their hold on first place but they're on the wrong end of a streak with a three-game losing streak.
Rangers walk off against the *'s 5-4, Sam Huff homers twice
The Rangers rookie Sam Huff had quite the game. He went 3 for 4 hitting his 2nd and 3rd home runs of the year. Those home runs were key to the Rangers being able to come back with the walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th. The final was 5-4 and they move to 20-38 with two games to go in the season. On the Mound Kyle Cody (1-1, 1.59) started for the Rangers and went 5 innings. He gave up one run on 3 hits, 3 walks and he struck out 1. Really curious to see how he does on the starting rotation
Texas Rangers Prospect Update
Sam Huff: The power hitting catching prospect was called up by the Rangers on September 10th and has struggled up to this point. Struggles are to be expected for the youngster as this is his first taste of playing above high-a. For the remainder of the season expect him to be splitting time with Jeff Mathis. Leody Taveras: Taveras was once a highly touted prospect in the low minors, but the hype surrounding him has decreased substantially due to inconsistent performance against higher level pit
Kyle Cody gets 1st Win and Sam Huff hits his 1st home run
After losing three-games in a row, the Rangers got back into the win column on Sunday with their 7-2 win over the Angels. They move to 19-34 with only seven games remaining in the season. For those on #RockerWatch, the Rangers would have the 2nd pick if the season ended tonight. They are 4 games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates and will not pass them before the end of the season. Some exciting things happened in this win. Kyle Cody earned his 1st career win and Sam Huff hit his 1st home run. Hop
Rangers to add Sam Huff
I am seeing reports and tweets that the Rangers are adding Sam Huff to the roster and promoting him. Jose Trevino was injured in the game against the Angels last night and is going to be listed as day to day but that leaves Mathis as the only catcher. Adding Sam Huff actually makes since since he would need to be added to the 40-man this winter for rule-5 protection anyways. Huff, 22, is listed by many as the # 2 ranked prospect in the Texas Rangers farm system, right behind Josh Jung. Huff sh
