MLB- Texas Rangers
Rangers protected a few prospects from the rule-5 draft
The Texas Rangers protected a few prospects from the rule-5 draft which takes place on December 10, 2020. They selected the contracts of pitchers A.J. Alexy, Yerry Rodriguez and catcher David Garcia and added them to the 40-man roster. They had quite a big list of prospects that needed to be added to their roster by Friday if they wanted them protected. A.J. Alexy Alexy, 22, is a right handed pitcher and one of the players the Rangers got in return from the Dodgers for Yu Darvish. A.J. dealt
Spokane Indians are losing their affiliation with the Rangers
The Texas Rangers are losing their affiliation with the Spokane Indians due to the contraction and reassignment of minor league teams. I don't believe that this has officially been announced but it is expected. In 2018, the Spokane Indians and the Rangers agreed to a two year extension through the 2020. The Indians have been the short season affiliate for the Rangers since 2003 so this ends their 17-year relationship. In 2019, fans saw some of the Rangers exciting prospects go through the sys
Minor League Round up November 16th
There have been quite a few changes made in Minor-League baseball and their affiliates. Whether we like it or not ( I don't) the changes are happening as we speak. I plan on this being a weekly round up as long as there is enough news. With all of the news surrounding the contraction of teams and changing of affiliates, this should be a busy off-season for this minor league round up. Appalachian League Brett Barnett, with Bucs dugout has an excellent write-up of the contraction of the Appala
On the farm: Texas Rangers top power hitters in 2019
It's been a couple of weeks since the World Series ended. Seems like that is the stat most baseball fans are enamored with. I am already missing baseball so I thought it'd be fun to take a look back at the 2019 season, specifically at the Texas Rangers top power hitters in 2019. Matt Davidson Davidson played 125 for the Nashville Sounds in 2019 and mashed 33 home runs, leading the Texas Rangers and their farm system. The power hasn't translated to the Majors, at least consistently. His most s
Texas Rangers Instructional League update
We have a Texas Rangers Instructional League update amid all of the divisive election news. One thing can bring everyone together; baseball. Especially when we the update is a good one. The Texas Rangers Instructional League team has an overall record of 23-5-3. That's impressive no matter how you spin it. Now is the time for Texas Rangers fans to get excited about the future. I know that's funny coming after a 22-38 record to end the 2020 season and a solid footing in the basement of the Ameri
Joey Gallo wins a Gold Glove
At the plate, he didn't have a good season for our Rangers but defensively, Joey Gallo has won a Gold Glove. Gallo didn't shine at the plate but he did in the field. With this win, Gallo becomes the Rangers third outfielder to win a Gold Glove. The first was Juan Beníquez in 1977 and then Gary Pettis in 1990. Defensively, Gallo had a Rdrs of 12 and a fielding percentage of 1.000 so he couldn't have been better. Offensively, Gallo slashed a line of .181/.301/.378/.679 so he will be looking to i
Isiah Kiner-Falefa is worth Gold, wins American League Gold Glove
Isiah Kiner-Falefa has won the Rawlings Gold Glove award at third base in the American League. The Rangers have had three third-basemen win the award in the past. Besides IKF winning this year, future Hall of Famer Adrian Beltré won the award three times and Buddy Bell won six. Defensively, Isiah Kiner-Falefa was excellent at third and was one of the bright spots for the Rangers this year. He had 8 Rdrs and had a fielding percentage of .959 at third base. Once Kiner-Falefa became a part of the
Eric Nadel signs two year contract extension
Great news for any Ranger fans on the day before Election Day! They have just made their best signing of the off-season. Our ears will be blessed with hearing the sweet sound of Eric Nadel's voice traveling over the airwaves and broadcasting Texas Rangers baseball. TR Sullivan reported on Monday that Eric Nadel, the Rangers longtime radio broadcaster, signed a two-year extension. Eric will cover 127 games in 2021 and 117 games in 2022 with guys like Jared Sandler and Matt Hicks filling in for
Rangers roster at 35 after Palumbo, Burke and Leclerc reinstated
John Blake tweeted on Sunday, the Rangers reinstated Palumbo, Burke and Leclerc. The Rangers have reinstated RHP Jose Leclerc and LHPs Brock Burke and Joe Palumbo from the 60-day injured list. Major League roster at 35. — John Blake (@RangerBlake) November 1, 2020 All three have been on the IL and if they are healthy for the 2021 season it would be huge for the Rangers. Jose Leclerc went to the IL with a grade-2 strain of the teres major muscle on his right shoulder, his throwing arm. He al
Ranger updates: Kluber option declined, Farrell assigned to minors, Gibaut claimed
The move we knew was coming is now official. The Texas Rangers have officially declined the option for starting pitcher, Corey Kluber. They pay a $1 million buyout to save $17 million. For a team focused on going young, this move makes sense. His performance on the mound this year was going to determine the Rangers decision on his option. For a team going younger and needing to save money, this move makes plenty of sense. There is still a possibility that Kluber is brought back on a cheap 1-3 y
