Teodo, Santos, and Walcott Represented Rangers in 2024 Futures Game
The 2024 Futures Game was an exciting showcase of MLB’s brightest young talent, and three Texas Rangers prospects made good impressions. It was really nice to see our pitching prospects perform well.
Despite the AL Futures team falling to the NL Futures 6-1, the performances of Emiliano Teodo, Winston Santos, and Sebastian Walcott highlighted their potential and bright futures within the Rangers organization.
Emiliano Teodo Makes Futures Game History
RHP Emiliano Teodo had a historic performance, becoming the first prospect to hurl two perfect innings in Futures Game history.
Starting the game, Teodo showcased impressive command and velocity, needing just 14 pitches to retire the six batters he faced.
He allowed no hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out one, with his velocity up to 98.8 mph.
Teodo was already climbing the top prospects list, and this dominant display solidified his standing as one of the top pitchers on the farm.
Winston Santos Generates Whiffs
Winston Santos also contributed on the mound for the AL Futures. Over his 1 inning pitched, Santos allowed 1 hit and 1 unearned run, walked 1, struck out 1, and generated 5 whiffs, showing his ability to miss bats.
He threw 24 pitches in total and had a wild pitch. Despite the challenging inning, Santos demonstrated resilience and the ability to handle pressure, essential qualities for a pitcher working towards the majors.
Sebastian Walcott’s Hard-Hit Ball
Sebastian Walcott, the Rangers’ infield prospect, went 0-for-2 in the game. However, he made solid contact with a ball that had a 106 mph exit velocity, narrowly missing a hit due to getting on top of it.
Walcott reached base via an error (E6).
