Jack Leiter earned his 1st win of the season after pitching a season-high six innings. The RoughRiders pitching staff put together a complete game shutout for the first time this season as the RoughRiders win 5-0 and move to 16-10.

None of that is possible without first acknowledging the brilliant start from Jack Leiter. A season-high in innings and also his 1st without any runs given up, whether earned or unearned. For me the biggest key is that he issued no walks. He only issued a 3-ball count once in this outing which has been an issue in previous outings. He was efficiently efficient topping out at 98 mph on the fastball.

Grant Anderson replaced Leiter in the top of the 7th. Anderson has been on a hot streak recently. This was his seventh outing without allowing an earned run.

Lucas Jacobsen got the final three outs for the RoughRiders. He allowed one hit but struckout two Travelers.

The RoughRiders five runs came from Ezequiel Duran and Blaine Crim.

Blaine Crim’s sac-fly in the bottom of the 1st gave the Riders a 1-0 lead which held until the bottom of the 5th when Ezequiel Duran hit his 3rd home run of the season. That ball traveled 414 feet with a 101 exit velocity off the bat.

Fast forward to the bottom of the 7th and Ezequiel Duran got his 2nd hit of the game, an RBI-double. His league-leading 13th double of the season.

Blaine Crim followed Duran’s double with his 4th home run of the season. The ball traveled 401 feet.

The RoughRiders scored 5 runs on 7 hits, 7 walks and 6 strikeouts. Ezequiel Duran was the only Rider with multiple hits.

What’s next?

The series finale is tomorrow and the RoughRiders will send left-hander Cole Ragans (1-1, 3.00) to the mound to try to split the series with a RoughRiders win. The Travelers will send right-hander Levi Stoudt (3-2, 3.46) to the mound.

First pitch is set for 4:05 PM Central.

Don’t forget to bring your mom to the game for Mothers Day.

Hitting the road

The RoughRiders hit the road and travel to Tulsa for their next series starting on Tuesday against the Tulsa Drillers.
