Leody Taveras

Leody Taveras claimed by the Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners have picked up Leody Taveras off waivers. He will add to the outfield depth as the Mariners have Victor Robles and Luke Raley on the injured list.

Taveras hit .241 with a .601 OPS along with one home run and eight RBIs. He was not doing well this year along with the rest of the Rangers lineup. He was out of minor league options, so he couldn’t be sent down to Triple A.

The Mariners will pick up the rest of his salary, which will be around 3 million dollars of his deal. So the Rangers will be able to get off of the rest of his money.

This move will give Taveras a chance to play and earn more playing time while also having a chance to prove the Rangers wrong when he gets to face them in the division.

It will be interesting to see if Taveras can improve or if he will continue to struggle like he did in Texas.
