Frisco, TX- Prior to the game the RoughRiders sat with a 16-12 record in the 2nd half of the season and really need to string together more wins to have a shot at the postseason. The temperature at first pitch was 101 and it felt it but didn't stop the crowd of 3,139 who made their way to Riders Field. The Texas Rangers have called up their 7th ranked prospect, Josh Smith on Memorial Day prior to the game. Smith, 25 in August, was just one piece of the Joey Gallo trade. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the 38th round of the 2016 draft but went to college at LSU. He was then drafted by the Yankees in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft. The RoughRiders lost 6-1 to the Amarillo Sod Poodles in front of a 6,675 fans at Hodgetown. The RoughRiders move to 63-54 and the Sod Poodles move to 58-60. As a team the RoughRiders scored season high 14 runs sparked by seven home runs. All that paved the way last night to a 14-6 win over the Sod Poodles. Bubba Thompson set the tone for the RoughRiders offense yesterday in their 3-2 win but Blaine Crim hit his 5th home run in a RoughRiders uniform and that ultimately put the RoughRiders on top.
