This week a few Texas Rangers Minor Leaguers were named player of the week. One of those players is in Low A with the Down East Wood Ducks. That would be Yosy Galan. Yosy Galan has been named Carolina League Player of the Week! Having a hot week like he did from May 2-8 where he hit for a .550 Avg, 2 HR, 7 RBI’s and a 1.571 OPS. Cody Freeman named player of the week
Texas Rangers prospect, Cody Freeman has been named player of the week in the South Atlantic League. Freeman, 21, was the Rangers 4th round pick in 2019 from Etiwanda High School. He is a versatile infielder playing Catcher, Third base and 2nd base. For the week he hit for a .429 average, with 6 hits, 3 home runs, 10 RBI and 1 stolen base. That's an excellent week. So far this season Freeman has slashed a line of .243/.325/.457/.782 with 5 home runs and 19 RBI.
Jack Leiter earns his 1st win
Jack Leiter earned his 1st win of the season after pitching a season-high six innings. The RoughRiders pitching staff put together a complete game shutout for the first time this season as the RoughRiders win 5-0 and move to 16-10. None of that is possible without first acknowledging the brilliant start from Jack Leiter. A season-high in innings and also his 1st without any runs given up, whether earned or unearned. Riders lose 6-2 to the Travelers
The RoughRiders moved to 15-10 after their 6-2 loss to the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). Left-hander Cody Bradford took the mound for the RoughRiders, making his 5th start of the season. Cinco de Mayo presented for the RoughRiders to play under their Copa de la Diversión moniker, Los Quesos Frisco. The Arkansas Travelers played as the Diamantes de Arkansas in front of a crowd of 2,801 fans. The RoughRiders are back home currently, playing a six-game series against the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). Right-hander Zak Kent toed the rubber for the RoughRiders. The RoughRiders won 6-5 in the series finale on Sunday against the Midland RockHounds. They won the series 4-2 and move to 14-7 on the season with the best record in the Texas League. The RoughRiders got back into the win column with a 10-5 win against the Midland RockHounds. It was a huge offensive night for the bats in the Riders lineup as they got a season-high 17 hits.
