Surprise Saguaros lose their 1st game

It took the Surprise Saguaros three games into the Arizona Fall League season to lose their 1st game. They lost by a final of 9-3 to the Solar Sox and move to 2-1 with 27 games left to play. Right-hander Jeff Criswell, one of the Oakland Athletics pitching prospects got the start for the Solar Sox and earned the win. He allowed two runs on three hits, one walk, and struck out five batters in 3.2 innings pitched. The pitching staff as a whole for the Solar Sox issued 9 walks and struckout 11.

The Surprise Saguaros won 5-0 over the Mesa Solar Sox in the first game of the Arizona Fall League season. Each team is set to play a 30-game schedule. A crowd of 5,278 filled the seats at Riders Field and watched the Frisco RoughRiders win their 60th game of the season. They won 6-3 over the San Antonio Missions and they needed this to avoid a season-high five-game losing streak. The RoughRiders welcomed back right-hander Tim Brennan off the Injured List by starting him on the mound yesterday against the Sod Poodles. This was his first start since May 15th.
