The Surprise Saguaros won 5-0 over the Mesa Solar Sox in the first game of the Arizona Fall League season. Each team is set to play a 30-game schedule. The Frisco RoughRiders dropped both games of their double-header to the Amarillo Sod Poodles at Hodgetown. The first game featured plenty of runs for both teams but the RoughRiders lost on a walk-off in 7 innings by a final of 10-9 and that dropped them to 62-52 on the season. The Frisco RoughRiders rallied late on Patriots night to win 7-4 in front of 8,493 fans. This win brings their record to 61-50 which is good for 1st place in the Double-A Central South. RoughRiders win their 60th game of the season
A crowd of 5,278 filled the seats at Riders Field and watched the Frisco RoughRiders win their 60th game of the season. They won 6-3 over the San Antonio Missions and they needed this to avoid a season-high five-game losing streak. The RoughRiders handed the ball to right-hander Noah Bremer (4-3, 4.63) and he pitched five innings. He allowed two-runs, one earned on five hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Desperate is not the word but the RoughRiders needed a win on this Weiner Wednesday. Left-hander Cody Bradford got the start for the RoughRiders Bubba Thompson hit a ball 403 feet to left center field to put the RoughRiders on the board in the bottom of the 1st. The RoughRiders welcomed back right-hander Tim Brennan off the Injured List by starting him on the mound yesterday against the Sod Poodles. This was his first start since May 15th. Unfortunately the RoughRiders now have a two-game losing streak after the 4-1 loss last night. So they will look to get back into the win column tonight. Bubba Thompson set the tone for the RoughRiders offense yesterday in their 3-2 win but Blaine Crim hit his 5th home run in a RoughRiders uniform and that ultimately put the RoughRiders on top.
