Walker to AAA, Miguel Aparicio promoted to AA

There is quite a bit of news on the farm on the promotion front today and that is always a good thing. Steele Walker has been promoted to AAA Round Rock Steele Walker, 25, has been a fan favorite in Frisco. He's got that cool confidence and is great with the fans. He slashed a line of .255/.323/.439/.763 with 10 HR, 40 RBI and 8 SB across 63 games while playing for the RoughRiders. Across his last 9 games, going back to July 23rd, he has hit .324/.395/.500/.895 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 4 BB, and 11

Sam Huff hit a massive home run

Frisco, TX - There it is, the power of Sam Huff. A crowd of 3,583 was on hand to witness the Frisco RoughRiders lose in 10 innings 7-6 to the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St Louis Cardinals. They also saw the mammoth home run that Sam Huff hit that they will never forget. It traveled 495 feet and exited off the bat at 111 mph. I dont know if I will ever see another ball hit in that spot or that far in a game. The home run was his 1st of the season. Here's a recap of the g

RoughRiders win 8-0, snap 3 game losing streak

We knew the losing streak wouldn't last much longer. The RoughRiders are back in the win column after losing 3-games in a row. They won by a final of 8-0 over the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). They move to 37-20 on the season while the Travelers move to 29-27. On the mound Right-hander Noah Bremer, was just activated from the IL and made his 1st start of the season, replacing Cole Winn who was originally scheduled to pitch. Bremer (5.34) had a strong outing but didn't pitch the required 5 in

RoughRiders lose three in a row, Winn off to CO

The RoughRiders lost by a final of 5-1 to the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). The RoughRiders are on the wrong side of a streak, as this is their third loss in a row. Their record is 36-20 and they still have a commanding 8.5 game lead over the 2nd place San Antonio Missions. I don't say that with too much confidence as that lead can disappear quickly with 64 more games to play this season. On the Mound We've had a slight change of plans to the rotation for the rest of this series. Cole Winn (

RoughRiders return to their winning ways

A day after failing to extend their team record 11-game win streak to 12-games, the RoughRiders get back into the win column. They won 4-2 over the Midland RockHounds (Athletics) and move to 34-17 on the season. The RockHounds couldn't keep up and now are 23-28 on the season. Right-hander Ronny Henriquez pitched his best game while wearing a RoughRiders uniform so far. He tossed 6 innings of one-run ball to earn the victory. He gave up the run on a solo-shot to left-handed batter, Chase Calabui

Riders win their 10th in a row

The RoughRiders have won 10 games in a row. That's something that isn't easy to do but yet they've done it. They won by a final of 4-3 and swept the series against the San Antonio Missions (Padres). Hans Crouse started for the RoughRiders and pitched one inning. He walked CJ Abrams and then gave up a two-run home run on a 2-2 pitch to Eguy Rosario, who had the interference called against him in the Riders 5-4 walk-off win on Saturday. The final line for Crouse was 1 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO. He

Naturals Bobby Witt Jr, hit two home runs in win, one taken away.

The 13-14 Naturals came to town in tow with the # 7 ranked prospect in all of baseball, Bobby Witt Jr. He made his presence known in the top of the 1st when he took the 3rd pitch if his at-bat deep off Cole Winn, the Rangers top pitching prospect. Each team had three home runs. However, the one everyone was talking about on social media was the 2nd one by Bobby Witt Jr. He crushed a ball to Left field but kind of hop-skipped at the plate. The RoughRiders Catcher, Matt Whatley, called for the ba

Hans Crouse made first start in Frisco

Hans Crouse, the right-hander who's ranked as one of the Rangers top pitching prospects, took the mound in Frisco for the first time last night. I would have guessed he would have pitched four innings since he's pitched an extra inning in each of his first three starts. He pitched three innings in his last start against the Midland RockHounds and allowed his first run at the plate. The RoughRiders came into this game with a 17-9 record. Now they've got a 17-10 record and have a half a game lea

RoughRiders suffer 1st shutout after brilliant start by Winn

The RoughRiders were handed their first shutout of the season last night after a brilliant start by Winn. A good crowd was on hand, including Colby Lewis, to watch the top pitching prospect in the Rangers farm system. This was my first time to see Cole Winn pitch in person and he didn't disappoint. Most of my time was spent behind the lense of my camera but from my view behind home plate, it seemed that he was getting squeezed on some of his pitches. I was especially impressed when he was able

Youth Movement: Davis Wendzel & others added to 60-man

This afternoon our Rangers made several moves with their 60-man player pool. They started the youth movement by assigning Davis Wendzel along with outfielders Bubba Thompson and Steele Walker, to the alternate site. This is what some fans, including most of us at The Prospect Times, have been calling for. Not that all of these guys will play. There will have to be other moves made to the roster for these guys to play. But it's nice to dream. Davis Wendzel Davis Wendzel was drafted by the Ran

Steele Walker, Texas Ranger

Steele Walker, Texas Ranger has a nice ring to it. That's good because you may hear it quite a bit now that he is a Ranger. Nomar Mazara was traded to the Chicago White Sox for their # 6 ranked prospect, Steele Walker. He moves to # 12 in the Texas Rangers farm system. The hot stove was really on fire at the time of this trade. Evan Grant broke the news around the time as the New York Yankees signing Cole was being reported. Walker was drafted in the second round (46th overall) of the 2018 draf
