Rangers Farm Report: Early Season Standouts
The first week and a half of the season (about two weeks for Triple-A) is in the books, and these players have caught my eye. These players aren’t listed in any specific order, but their early production is worth noting.
Dalton Pence | 23 | LHP| High-A Hub City
As of this writing, Pence leads the entire Texas Rangers farm system with 15 strikeouts. The left-hander has pitched two outings and issued only one walk and given up four hits. He has a 1.80 ERA and a 0.50 WHIP. In his latest outing, he pitched 5.1 innings giving up only one hit while striking out 8. I imagine we will see him in Frisco shortly.
Aidan Curry | 23 | RHP | High-A Hub City
Curry has only one outing so far but it was a good one. He pitched 4 innings against the Greenville Drive (Red Sox), giving up 5 hits and striking out 7. Curry used a heavy mix of fastballs but mixed in his cutter and slider as well. He can reach up to 98 MPH with the fastball.
Dane Acker | 27 | RHP | Express
Acker has pitched a total of 5.2 innings across one start and one appearance out of the bullpen. His relief appearance came on April 11th against the Oklahoma City Comets (Dodgers) where he pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one hit, one walk, and one strikeout. On the season, he has pitched 5.2 innings with four hits, one walk, and 5 strikeouts with a 0.00 ERA. His WHIP is currently 0.882.
Dylan Dreiling | 22 | OF | RoughRiders
Dreiling is perhaps the one who has impressed me the most. The RoughRiders have played 9 games and he has been on-base in all 9 games. He is slashing .333/.429/.528/.956 with 2 HR, 8 RBI, 2 SB and 6:9 BB/SO. The .429 OBP isn't going to stay that high, but it has been impressive.
Speaking at the RoughRiders media day before the season began, Dreiling reflected on the transition to this season. "I learned a lot about myself last year," Dreiling said. "It was a different season than anything I've ever been a part of obviously more games, playing center field for the first time since high school. So, I think last year, I was a little worried about, like center field and defense, and figuring that all out. And this year, I'm really just trying to stay consistent, say more consistent at the play, and figure some stuff out there."
Leandro Lopez | 23 | RHP | RoughRiders
Lopez has 10.1 innings with a 0.00 era under his belt. He's given up one unearned run on four hits, 6 walks and 9 strikeouts 0.968 WHIP. So far his 7.8 SO/9 is the lowest in his career.
Eric Loomis | 24 | RHP | RoughRiders
Baseball America had the reliever as having one of the best performing fastballs in 2025. His metrics were impressive: a 68.3% strike rate, 61% in-zone rate, and a 39.3% whiff rate. So far this season, he has pitched 4 innings and allowed only one unearned run in extra innings. He has struck out 6 and issued no walks with a 0.250 WHIP. Loomis is one that I imagine will get a quick promotion to Round Rock.
Julian Brock | 24 | C | RoughRiders
I wanted to mention RoughRiders catcher Julian Brock for a moment. He has six caught stealings on the season already and is 6-8 in catching base runners.
Zach Bryant | 27 | RHP | RoughRiders
After throwing an immaculate inning on Thursday, Zach Bryant tossed another 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen on Sunday.
Frainyer Chavez | 26 | INF | RoughRiders
Chavez had two home runs during the RoughRiders series against the RockHounds. He finished 9-for-23 with the two homers and four walks.
Geury Rodriguez | 21 | RHP | Crawdads
The 21-year-old relief pitcher has pitched 5.2 innings for the Hickory Crawdads. He has issued three walks but struck out 10. He has a 2-0 win-loss record in 3 games.
Gavin Collyer | 24 | RHP | Express
Over his three appearances in April, Collyer has pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out 4. For the season he has a 3.38 ERA in 5.2 IP with 1 walk and 9 SO. Collyer could be on the verge of making his MLB debut this season.
There were plenty of other players that could be named on this list, but these are just a handful that stood out to me after the first week and a half of play. I will continue to monitor the rest of the system as the season progresses and try to have one of these articles for you every week or two. Thank you so much for your support of The Prospect Times!
All full-season affiliates begin new six-game series tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14.
